Vase-form on a circular foot, the body repousse and chased with grapevines, scrolls, rocaille and fruit festoons, the domed cover with corresponding decoration and surmounted by a kneeling putto finial, the two leaf and grape-clad double scroll handles surmounted by goat's heads, each side of body engraved with a Baron's coat-of-arms, fully marked on cover bezel and under base

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Arundell with those of Conquest in pretence for Henry, 8th Baron Arundell of Wardour (1740-1808) and his wife Maria Christiana, only daughter and heiress of Benedict Conquest of Irnham, Lincolnshire. They married on May 31, 1763.
