A PAIR OF WHITE JADE 'MAGPIE' BOX COVERS
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
Each cover is naturalistically carved as the upper half of a magpie, detailed with a small bead grasped between their beaks. Their plumage is incised with minute details depicting wing and tail feathers. The attractively polished stone is of an even white tone.
