A GROUP OF FOUR OVERLAY GLASS SNUFF BOTTLES
18TH/19TH CENTURY
One bottle is of flattened round shape carved through pink overlay on an opaque white ground, depicting a pond scene with pairs of fish and aquatic plants. Another bottle is carved through black overlay with horses drinking by a stream, beside willow trees, all on an opaque white ground. The turquoise bottle is carved through red overlay on either side to depict a sinuous chilong with bifurcated tails. The last bottle is of slender form, carved through the dark blue overlay depicting a sash tied in a knot at the front, on a semi-transcluscent turquoise ground.
The tallest 3 1/8 in. (8 cm.) high overall, all with stoppers (4)
