NEOLITHIC PERIOD, HONGSHAN CULTURE, CIRCA 4000-2500 BC
The disc is carved with a circular hole in the centre, with four smaller holes carved in a horizontal line just below the upper rim. The semi-translucent stone is of an even pale tone with some darker inclusions.

A similarly shaped jade disc excavated from Sanguandianzi in Liaoning Province is in the Liaoning Provincial Museum, illustrated in Zhongguo Meishu Fenlei Quanji: Zhongguo Yuqi Quanji 1 Yuanshi Shehui, Hebei, 1993, pl. 4. Also see another similar disc excavated from Niuheliang in Liaoning Province, illustrated in Niuheliang Hongshan Wenhua Yizhi yu Yuqi Jingcui, Liaoning, 1997, pl. 45 (see fig. 1).
