The hall mark reading 'xing you heng tang' may be translated as 'the Hall of Perpetuation'. It is known that this hall belonged to Dai Quan (1794-1854), a Manchurian official and a descendent of the Emperor Qianlong. This prestigious family's collection of works of art and calligraphy was particularly famous during the Daoguang period (1821-1850) and the Xianfeng period (1851-1861).
