A BRONZE RITUAL WINE VESSEL, JUE
LATE SHANG DYNASTY, LATE ANYANG PERIOD, 12TH CENTURY BC
The vessel is cast with a deep 'U'-shaped body supported on three blade-form legs. It is decorated with a wide band comprising two taotie masks on a leiwen ground and with raised vertical flanges. There are a pair of capped posts to the mouth rim on either side of the spout. The vessel has an overall mottled milky-green and brown patina with some areas of encrustation.
