A HARDWOOD FOLDING HORSESHOE-BACK ARMCHAIR, JIAO YI
19TH CENTURY
The chair has a rounded crestrail ending in outswept handrests which are supported by the curved extensions of the front legs. There are backsplats carved with pierced panels with qilin amongst stylised clouds and scrolls. The front stretchers are beneath a foot-rest which has a central lozenge-shaped metal plaque.
