A SMALL RARE YIXING SLIP-PAINTED CIRCULAR BOX AND COVER
QIANLONG IMPRESSED SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN A SQUARE AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The cover is delicately decorated on a brownish-beige ground with a landscape scene comprising of two dwellings in a rocky mountain clearing, surrounded by various trees. The scene is further detailed with a flock of birds flying towards distant mountain tops.

Lot Essay

Compare to very similar style of slip-decoration on a Yixing brush pot by Yang Jizhu who was active during the Yongzheng and Qianlong periods (1723-1795) illustrated in Grace Wu Bruce, Elegant Offerings from the Scholar's Studio - the Jianzong Ge Collection, Hong Kong , 2002, p. 80, pl. 1.
