Lot Essay

With two Rolex guarantee cards, the first dated 23 June 2010, the second dated 30 October 2003, and a spare Rolex black leather strap with gold plated Rolex buckle.

Consigned by the original owner, the present watch is a fine and rare example of the celebrated reference 6265 Cosmograph model, preserved in extremely good overall condition and always treated with care.

Reference 6265 was introduced into the market in the early 1970s, simultaneously with its peers 6263 and 6264, the first "Oyster" versions of the celebrated "Cosmograph" model. Available in stainless steel, 14K and 18K gold, the models were fitted with the "screw down" chronograph buttons, the tachymeter scale engraved directly onto the bezel.

For detailed descriptions and illustrations of the different versions of reference 6265 see I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, pp. 336 - 349.
