'A WELL DRAWN AND FINELY COLOURED SET OF PLATES representing shooting accidents' (Schwerdt). Apart from getting caught in a man trap, Alken's marksman manages to shoot at one of his dogs, kill a sheep, set his dogs on a flock of tame turkeys, and mortally scare an old lady carrying a basket of eggs. Dixon 7: 'one of the rarest of Alken's works'; Mellon/Snelgrove 45; Schwerdt I, p.23 (also without wrappers); Siltzer p.57; Tooley 53.
