'A FINE SET IN ALKEN'S BEST STYLE' (Schwerdt). In his prefaratory remarks, the artist admits to concentrating on both horses and riders that 'do not'. His magnificent plates, similar to Qualified Horses and Unqualified Riders in style, exhibit the frustrations and hazards encountered by the inexperienced. Dixon 36; Mellon/Snellgrove 11; Schwerdt I, p.22; Siltzer p.70; Tooley 50.
