POLLARD, James (1792-1867). Northampton Grand Steeple Chase. London: Thomas McLean, 1833. 7 aquatints (c.355 x c.430), including a smaller key repeating the first plate (c.255 x c.290mm), by H. Pyall after J. Pollard, hand-coloured and finished with gum arabic. (Some spotting; not examined outside of the mats.) Window-mounted and bound in an oblong 2° album (510 x 590mm), modern blue half morocco, probably by Aquarius, spine and sides ruled in gilt, the upper side with a morocco label lettered in gilt.
A COMPLETE SET OF POLLARD'S FINE STEEPLE-CHASING PLATES. McLean dedicates the work to the Pytchley Hunt, which then had George Osbaldeston as Master. Mellon/Snelgrove, pp. 135-6, Siltzer, p.221.
