A WILLIAM AND MARY BRASS-MOUNTED KINGWOOD AND ROSEWOOD COFFRE FORT
LATE 17TH EARLY 18TH CENTURY
Crossbanded and with geometric oyster veneers, the brass strapwork with fleurs de lys and with handles to the sides, the hinged lid with a compartment within above a fall front revealing two short and one long rosewood-veneered and lined drawers, and with further secret compartments, inscribed to underside 'BASIEU', on an associated 19th century tulipwood and marquetry stand with square tapering legs, the stretcher inscribed indistinctly 'LONDON ST 25'
The coffer: 11 in. (28 cm.) high; 18 in. (46 cm.) wide; 12¼ in. (31 cm.) deep; 35 in. (89 cm.) high overall
