BRUSSELS, SECOND HALF 16TH CENTURY
Woven in silks and wools, depicting a battle scene with soldiers on foot and on horseback within a wooded landscape with further troops in the background, in an elaborate architectural border with flower-filled vases, centred to the top with a flaming urn and at the bottom with the seated figure of Flora, interspersed with herm-flanked depictions of exotic animals, including a lizzard and a phoenix, between spirally-twisted bands and with later blue outer slip, reduced in size to right hand edge, areas of restoration and re-weaving
10 ft. 4 in. x 14 ft. 3 in. (315 cm. x 434 cm.)
