The present decanter holds an Imperial gallon, approximately 4.5 litres, the equivalent of six bottles. Decanters of this capacity are known as Rehoboam, named after the King of Judah in the 10th century B.C., son of Solomon and grandson of David, whose name translates as 'he who enlarges the people'.
