GOBELINS OR BEAUVAIS, LATE 17TH CENTURY
Woven in silks, wools, gold- and silver-metal threads, depicting 'Apollo and Muses' from a series of 'The Story of Apollo', with Apollo and the muses in a wooded landscape with cupid to the right presenting a floral wreath, classical ruins to the left, within a fruiting foliage and flower-filled border decorated to the corners with stylised rosettes and with a blue outer slip
