Les décors de "tesnières" sont très en vogue à Sèvres de 1758 à 1764. Pour un commentaire sur ce type de décor, voir le catalogue d'exposition Charles-Nicolas Dodin et la manufacture de Vincennes-Sèvres par Marie-Laure de Rochebrune, Paris, 2012, pp. 65-67.
Notre modèle est un rare exemple qui présente un compromis entre les décors d'après Teniers et des motifs beaucoup plus modernes de rinceaux dans le goût antique.
