Lot Essay

Goto Ichijo (1791-1876) was the son of Goto Jujo (Shichiroemon Branch 4th Master) and was adopted into the Hachirobei family, becoming the 6th Master in due course. He was a highly important artist who revitalised the somewhat moribund Goto family and had many pupils.
