Decorated in gold, silver, red and black hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, hirame and gold foil on a gold lacquer ground with a karako playing a flute on the back of an ox, a scene from the illustrated Zen parable Jugyuzuju [ten ox-herding pictures], the reverse with two further boys, nashiji interiors, fundame rims, lacquer manju decorated with flower and leaves, signed Kansai
