The distinctive landscape cartouche on this elegant table à écrire closely relates to those found on tables by Pierre Roussel and Leonard Boudin, some of which also have the same trellis-work marquetry aprons. It has been suggested that these landscape panels were supplied by specialist marqueteurs to the ébènistes who then incorporated them into their work. Related tables include one by Leonard Boudin sold by the Trustees of the Late 3rd Viscount Allendale at Christie's, London, 7 July 2005, lot 315.
