These richly carved consoles, with their lavish use of floral swags and rocaille carving on boldly inswept supports, relate to a console attributed to the Neapolitan intagliatore Gennaro di Fiore, in the Queen's Gabbinetto della Tualetta in the Palazzo Reale, Caserta, illustrated in Civit del '700 a Napoli, Naples, 1979, exh. cat. vol. II, pp. 201-2, cat. 443. A japanned side table with similar carving, especially the floral trails to the legs, in the Museum and National Gallery of Capodimonte, Naples, is illustrated ibid., p. 197, cat. 438.
