Lot Essay

The renowned nineteenth-century firm of jewellers and silversmiths Froment-Meurice, was founded by François Désiré Froment-Meurice (1802-1855) and continued by his son Emile (1837-1913). The firm won several medals at the Paris expositions and their work was commissioned by the Emperor Napoleon III, the Duchess of Parma and the writer Honoré de Balzac. Froment-Meurice was located at 372 Rue St. Honoré from 1855-1867.
