Slightly raised cork. Slightly bin-soiled, slightly stained and slightly nicked label. Level at 3.5cms below base of cork
Tasting note: By the mid-1980s, its almost ethereal bouquet spreading its peacock's feathers, but very tannic. Developing well through the 1990s, maturing sweetly, tannin and acidity clinging on to its long finish. Most recently: two bottles, the first with an attractive colour; inimitable La Tche fragrance with whiff of liquorice, olives, strawberry pinot; medium-dry, flavour of dried berries, very tannic, austere finish. The second bottle, slightly paler; softer nose, harmonious, forthcoming, spicy, cherry-like; less aggressive, lovely fruit, very dry finish. Last tasted Nov 2005. At best ***** M.B.
