48 invitations, tickets and menus, printed and completed by hand, and manuscript, various sizes (ca.85-190 x ca.115-290mm), mounted on card in an album. (Some soiling.) Contemporary morocco, upper side titled in gilt and blocked with the Imperial eagle of Russia (rebacked, some wear, some repairs). Provenance: Constantin Carathédory -- Maggs Brothers, London (item 142 in catalogue 925, 1970) -- Swann Galleries, New York (sold, 1997, lot 334).

A collection of menus, tickets and invitations sent to Constantin Caratheodory, State Council of the Ottoman Empire, for events relating to the coronation of Nicholas II. Including: an invitation to the coronation itself at the Kremlin's Uspensky Cathedral; an invitation and ticket to the gala spectacle at the Bolshoi Theatre on 17 May which featured Glinka's 'La vie pour le Tzar' and 'La Perle', the ballet choreographed by Petipa; an invitation, program and ticket to the popular celebrations of 18 May; invitations to imperial balls at various embassies; and various menus, a number for meals at the Embassy of the Ottoman Empire.
