2° (530 x 465mm). Thirty-one hand-coloured lithographic plates. (Light soiling in some margins.) Contemporary green moiré silk, sides with border in gilt and blind, upper side with the Russian imperial eagle and titled in gilt, gilt edges, yellow moiré-style endpapers (extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: ?Nicholas I of Russia (binding).
FIRST EDITION. POSSIBLY NICHOLAS I'S COPY, IN A GREEN MOIRé SILK BINDING. A collection of finely hand-coloured lithographs showing technical drawings of artillery and related equipment, and the harnesses and fittings used for their transport by horse through mountainous regions. RARE: apparently not in the National Library of Russia, WorldCat or Copac.
