A HUANGHUALI BAITONG-MOUNTED DOCUMENT BOX, XIAOXIANG
17TH/18TH CENTURY
Of rectangular shape, set at either end with bail handles suspended from quatrefoil mounting plates and falling to a knocking plate of similar shape, framed by baitong fittings along the edges of both box and cover, the front with a large rectangular lockplate and clasp, the wood of attractive dark colour
5 15/16 in. (15.1 cm.) high, 15 in. (38.1 cm.) wide, 8 5/8 in. (22 cm.) deep
