THREE JADE ANIMAL CARVINGS
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The first is carved as a recumbent rat resting its head on its front paws, the white stone with light and dark brown and cloudy inclusions; the seated goat is carved as a robed zodiac animal holding a fan, the pale greyish stone with darker grey inclusions; the coiled dog is carved resting its head on its haunches, drilled with a tapering cylindical aperture, the greyish celadon stone with dark brown inclusions and areas of calcification.
