FOUR SHADOW AGATE SNUFF BOTTLES
18TH/19TH CENTURY
The first bottle is carved in high relief through caramel brown inclusions with two cockerels beside rockwork. The second bottle is slightly incised to the upper half with purse-like folds, the stone is of a honey-grey colour. The third bottle is of a warm brown tone and with slightly lighter inclusions which have been subtlely used to depict a grasshopper resting on a vase. The fourth is incised with a central band of wicker design and inscriptions reading fushou changjiu, shibao pingan, with zhen wan mark to the base.
The largest 2¾ in. (6.3 cm.) high, stoppers (4)
