A WHITE AND RUSSET JADE CARVING OF A MYTHICAL BEAST
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-95)
The recumbent horned animal is carved with its feet tucked under its body and head turned to one side, a large lingzhi fungus in its mouth, its facial features are finely delineated, the stone with cloudy white inclusions and russet striations.
1 7/8 in. (4.7 cm.) long
Provenance
From a Private East Asian Collection predominantly formed in the 1980s and 1990s in Hong Kong, acquired in 1993.
