FIRST EDITION OF THE NOBEL WINNER'S FIRST BOOK. INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR to a publisher, and signed 'Gabo 05'. As late as the mid 1970s, even after Cien anos de soledad, García Márquez described this as the favourite of his own works because of its spontaneity and honesty. Rare: sales were slow, and much of the edition is presumed to have been pulped; ABPC records only one copy at auction. Pelayo, Gabriel García Márquez (2001), p.28.
