Approximately 380 red wax seals, various sizes, most c.10-40mm in height (some cracked, some worn), mounted in a 19th-century book-form leather-covered case comprising nine trays lined with green paper, the covers with a wide, blind-tooled scrolling border (some seals detached, the hinge of one tray starting to split, the leather covering worn). A collection of mainly Russian wax seals relating to various military, governmental and commercial bodies, including, the Life Guards Preobrazhenskii Regiment, the Wiedemann School in St. Petersburg, Dubrovskoi ekonomii, 1aia batereia 9oi artilleriskoi brigady; and various individuals including Grunskii, Kalinin, Kassich, etc., including a number of crowned ciphers, and some seals in Arabic script. A number of seals relate to Kharkov, suggesting a possible location where the collection was formed.
