A ROMAN GOLD AND GARNET BOW FIBULA
CIRCA 3RD CENTURY A.D.
With an s-shaped bow, round in section and arching along the upper portion, framed above and below by beading and granules, faceted along the length below and tapering, curved out at the end, with a box set cabochon garnet framed by beaded wire, the rectangular catch-plate projecting from the back, a loop at the back of the upper end through which the multi-spiraled spring is threaded, tapering to the long straight pin
