A PARIS (FEUILLET) GREEN-GROUND PART DESSERT-SERVICE
CIRCA 1830, GILT FEUILLET AND INCISED S MARKS
Painted with bouquets of garden flowers and baskets of flowers within gilt frond cartouches, within tooled gilt bands of flowering leafy branches and gilt line rims, comprising:
Two cylindrical icepails and covers with richly-gilt foliate and flowerhead finials - 9½ in. (24.2 cm.) high (lacking liners)
Two three-tiered tazzas with richly-gilt twin putti supports - each approx. 15¼ in. (38.7 cm.) high (both cracked to middle tier, one putto support cracked, three wings restuck, one wing lacking)
Four two-tiered tazzas with richly-gilt double putti supports - each 10½ in. (26.7 cm.) high (one putto lacking one wing, one with wing cracked and restuck)
Three medium-sized tazzas with everted rims - 5 5/8 in. (14.3 cm.) high (one with restuck rim chip, one cracked across and overpainted with flaking to old overpainting)
Seven cup-shaped tazzas - 4 1/8 in. (10.5 cm.) high (two with rim chips and one with associated hairline crack)
Two shallow circular bowls - 8 7/8 in. (22.4 cm.) diam.
Twenty-nine plates (some damages, restoration and riveted repairs) - 9 in. (23 cm.) diam.
(some stacking wear and rubbing to gilding throughout)

Most probably acquired by Peter, 5th Earl Cowper (d. 1836), for Panshanger, Hertfordshire, or by Thomas, 2nd Earl de Grey (d. 1859) for Wrest Park, Bedfordshire, and subsequently through de Grey's daughter to Panshanger, and at Panshanger until circa 1953, and thence by descent.
