Nicholas I (1796-1855), Tsar of Russia 1825-1855, in black uniform with gold epaulettes, wearing the blue moiré sash and breast-star of the Imperial Russian Order of St Andrew, the Russian Military Order of St George, the breast-star of the Imperial Order of St Vladimir encircled by the British Order of the Garter, the Prussian medal for Distinguished Service and the 1812 campaign medal

oval, 2¾ in. (45 mm.) high, pierced gilt-metal easel-stand frame, the silver-gilt reverse engraved 'Given to C. A. Murray. by H.I.M. Nicolas. Emperor of Russia. at Buckingham Palace June 9^t.^h. 1844'
