Johann Brockmann was an Austrian actor who shot to fame in 1766 when he acted the title role in Friedrich Schröder's famous production of Hamlet in Hamburg. After successful guest appearances in Berlin, Brockmann was called to the Burgtheater where he remained for the rest of his life.
