Lot Essay

Ferdinand VI was the son of King Philip V. He married, in 1729, Infanta Barbara of Portugal.
The exhibition catalogue El documento pintado. Cinco siglos de arte en manuscritos, Madrid, Prado, 2000, no. 67, pp. 266-268, contains another portrait of King Ferdinand VI which is attributed to Carlos Casanova y Pillarte by Carmen Espinosa Martín.
