Louis Napoleon Bonaparte (1778-1846), King of Holland 1806-1810, in white coat with brown facings, gold epaulettes, white shirt and black stock, wearing the blue moiré sash and breast-star of the Order of the Reunion of Holland the badge of the Legion of Honour

oval, 3 15/16 in. (100 mm.) high, rectangular ormolu frame with tied ribbon surmount
Provenance
A handwritten note on the reverse states that the miniature was presented to Samuel Cartwright by Prince Louis Napoleon in 1852.

Lot Essay

Louis Napoleon, younger brother of Napoleon I married Hortense de Beauharnais in 1802. He was made King of Holland in 1806 and ruled until 1810. He died in Livorno.
