By repute, based on the Russian initial printed inside, Field Marshall Prince Alexander Ivanovich Bariatinski (1814/15-1879).

Lot Essay

Prince Bariatinski was a colonel of the 80th Kabarda Infantry and later became Chief of this regiment between 1858 and 1859, before becoming Field Marshall. He was a conqueror of the Caucasus in 1859, who surrounded Shamil at Gunib.
