Lot Essay

A similar example but of larger size and with a different gilt mount is in the Palace Museum, Beijing Collection and illustrated in Metal-bodied Enamel Ware, The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 2002, pl. 124. Another very similar inkcake stand was sold at Christie's Paris, 23 November 2004, lot 180. See also a cloisonné enamel brush rest, which probably forms a set with the current stand on the scholar's table, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 30 May 2006, lot 1223.
