A RED-OVERLAY BUBBLE-SUFFUSED GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE AND A RED-OVERLAY CLEAR GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE
QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
Both of flattened rounded form, the bubble-suffused bottle is carved with a continuous design of two carps, one on each side, with aquatic plants above a lotus leaf wrapping around the base, and the stem of the lotus leaf wrapped around the base forming the partial foot rim. The clear glass bottle is carved with a continuous design of rolling waves above the foot rim, with the sun rising from the waves towards a bat in flight on one side, and a crane holding a tally in beak flying towards a pavilion rising from the waves on the other.
2 5/16 and 2¼ in. (5.9 and 5.6 cm.) high, jadeite stoppers (2)
