A CARVED WHITE JADE 'BOYS' PLAQUE
QING DYNASTY, 18TH/19TH CENTURY
The rectangular panel is carved in low relief to one side with two boys, one holding a leash around a dog, the other holding a millet, and a bat flying amidst clouds; the other side with six characters, Zhetian yibie renxian, followed by a Zigang signature and seal. The panel is surmounted by openwork 'double-happiness' characters flanked by a pair of stylised phoenixes. The stone is of an even white tone with a slight yellowish hue near the 'double-happiness' characters.
