The Beatles
A collection of 39 colour slides and 32 black and white negatives, taken by cinematographer Arthur Smith during the filming of BBC documentary The Mersey Sound, 1963, the shots include:
- four close-up colour shots of each of the Beatles
- two colour shots of John, Paul and George next to the River Mersey
- seven colour shots of the Beatles in a dressing room at the BBC studios, Manchester
- sixteen colour shots of the Beatles on stage at the Little Theatre, Hoghton Street, Southport
- twelve black and white shots of all four Beatles next to the River Mersey, on a Ferry, getting off an aeroplane at Speke airport and signing autographs for fans
- eight black and white shots of George and Paul on stage
- six black and white shots of John and Ringo on stage
- two colour shots of Ringo in the hairdressers at Horne Bros., Liverpool;
accompanied by 31 corresponding vintage black and white prints -- 3½x5in. (9x12.7cm.); five extra vintage colour snapshots -- 3 3/8x3 3/8in.
