H.R.H. The Princess Mary, Princess Royal, Countess of Harewood (1897-1965) and her husband Henry Lascelles, 6th Earl of Harewood, KG (1882-1947) were keen racing enthusiasts. Correspondence and newspaper articles dated April and May 1930 show she resided at Egerton House, Newmarket for the racing season.
