THOMAS JEFFERSON'S GRAND-DAUGHTER. On front pastedown an inscription records its presentation: "Eleonora Wayles Coolidge to Mary Jefferson Randolph Monticello, June 23d 1825." On the facing page is A FULL-PAGE INSCRIPTION OF THE MARQUIS DE LAFAYETTE: "I am the first to write on your book, dear Mary Jefferson Randolph: the first I shall ever be among your friends to love you and your dear family, to bestow on you, in every circumstance of your life, the paternal good wishes and feelings which I am happy to be entitled to express...."
