Chancery 2o (257 x 183 mm). Collation: a-b8 c-f6 ff8 g-i8 k-l6 m8; A-K8 L-N6 O8 P-Q6 R8. 217 (of 218) leaves (lacking final blank). Gothic types 140G (headers), 101B and 100B (text). Six full-page woodcuts, including two repeats (m4v [repeated on m8r], B8v, H8v, P6v [repeated on R7r]) and 93 smaller woodcuts (some repeated), large grotesque initial letter L with lacework and monkeys on title, first text leaf with ornate woodcut floriated and historiated border and large woodcut initial, other smaller initials, woodcut printer's device at end. (Small wormholes throughout, catching some letters, but generally clean and crisp.) 19th-century olive straight-grained morocco gilt, edges gilt. Provenance: Philippe de Roncek and Nicolle Roncek (contemporary ownership inscriptions); Lord Peckover (bookplate); Edmée Maus (bookplate; library dispersed through the French and Swiss trade in the 1970s and 1980s).

Apparently the first use of these blocks, the woodcuts depict the city of Troy and the Homeric battle between the Greeks and the Trojans; Hercules killing King Laomedon (in two compartments); Priam, son of Laomedon, rebuilding Troy; the Trojan horse entering the city and Helen being taken away as prisoner by Ulysses. This is one of only two books signed by both Topie and Heremberck, the other being Nicole Le Huen, Pérégrination d'outremer en terre sainte, 28 November 1488. The text here is the same as the first book printed in English by Caxton [Bruges or Ghent, 1473].
