Original blue cloth (rubbing to extremities, upper hinge with tape repair, lower hinge starting, newspaper article pasted to lower pastedown); navy quarter morocco slipcase. Provenance: Mary Francis Bigelow (bookplate); Edith and Mabel Ashley (ownership inscription on flyleaf); Ruth Bigelow Sweet (ownership inscription on flyleaf, a few leaves with marginal ink notes referring to the family history); Don Frazier (his library sold to:) John Moores (his sale Lang's, 2 November 2007, lot 298).
FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE, one of 25 unnumbered privately printed copies. "This is one of the rarest of Derrydales. It is seldom offered for sale, as most copies are still held within the Bigelow and related families. To our knowledge, no copy has been offered for sale since 1962" (Siegel). RARE: according to American Book Prices Current, this is the only copy of this work sold in the last 30 years. Frazier B-10-a; Siegel 68.
