Cf. Phelps, 1976, p.184, fig.750 pour une coupe comparable provenant de la collection Hooper.
Ce type de coupe en noix de coco était utilisé par les prêtres de l'ouest de Viti pour boire le yaqona contenu dans un grand plat circulaire sur pied. Fergus Clunie (1986, figs.145-146) a également publié deux coupes à kava comparables conservées au Fiji Museum.
