Lot Essay

The keeshond was a symbol of the Patriots in the struggle between the Orangists and the Patriots during the last quarter of the 18th century, which ended in 1795 with the flight to England of Stadholder Prince William V (1748-1806) and the founding of the Batavian Republic.
