Simon, Delfshaven, late 18th century
The case of typical form, the hood surmounted by a broken-arched pendiment centred by a vase, the gilt-brass and polychrome painted dial depicting village scenes, dial with rolling moonphase to the arch, the silvered chapter ring surrounding a subsidiary seconds ring, flanked by sectors for month and day of week, a silvered plaque signed Simon. Delfshaven, and the date aperture above VI, the black-painted hands with alarm setting disc, the brass two-train four-pillar movement with anchor escapement and Dutch strike on two bells; pendulum, three brass weights, door key, winding key
