A PRIVATE COLLECTION FEATURING HIGH QUALITY WINES FROM THE MOSEL AND RHINE AND A RANGE OF ALSACE FROM TOP PRODUCERS

I felt this remarkable collection of Mosel, Rhine and Alsace - probably unique for rarity and outstanding quality - justified a personal comment.
The German section consists of the greatest post-war vintages and the most renowned estates - which would be invidious of me to single out. 1949 five star, being a BA, will still be at its zenith; 1959 even greater; the 1971 vintage, one of my favourites, long lasting. It is worth mentioning that TBAs are far more than just expensive. 1976, most attractive wines drinking perfectly but don't keep for another decade. The great estates produce wines of this rarity and quality in exceptional vintages and in minute quantities, worth their weight in gold.
As for the Alsace section, I have never come across such a cornucopia of the finest and rarest, again from top estates of the finest vintages. If I were to single out one it would be lot 640, the Cuvée Anne which Schlumberger can only make in a great vintage. It should be exquisite now. My mouth is watering.
